ITANAGAR, Nov 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union has expressed serious concern over repeated unsavoury instances involving defence forces in the state over the past few months.
Be it the recent Bomdila and Longding incident whereby the defence personnel have reportedly committed excesses or the Dollungmukh firing range dispute including the recent Anjaw mortar blast incident, all these happenings tend to portray the defence forces in a bad light, the student union said.
While urging the armed forces to adopt correctional measures, the AAPSU also urged the state government to take serious note of all these happenings.
The Anjaw blast incident is believed to have occurred when the children playing with the mortar shells collected from nearby firing range accidentally exploded. It asked the authorities why no restrictions has been put on civilian movement near the firing range? The Army and the authorities should have been more careful, it added.
The AAPSU also strongly urged the State Government to increase the compensation amount for the family of those killed in the incident. Both the State Government and the Army should look into the prospect of providing government employment to the family members of those killed, the release further said.
