Itanagar, Jun 11: A team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) led by its President Hawa Bagang visited all the check gates in and around capital complex viz, Banderdewa, Gumto and Hollongi on June 9 and 10.
At Banderdewa check gate,  which has been designated as entry point for all the essential commodities in the state capital, the team found that trucks carrying essential commodities and other supplies were not being sanitized properly upon entry. On close observation, it was also witnessed that the truck drivers and the handymen's were also not being checked nor their thermal readings taken. It was informed to the Union members at Banderdewa that hundreds of trucks carrying essential commodities enter capital complex daily.
The Union taking strong exception to the high risk posed by such oversight, said that truck drivers coming from outside should be immediately made to leave after delivering the supplies and initiative to take their swab samples for covid testing may be started at the earliest.
"We demand for rigorous testing and sanitization of all such commercial vehicles and trucks coming from outside the state," said Hawa Bagang.
Further, the union also demanded for stepping up testing which should also include ILP checks and similar sanitization at Hollongi, Gumto and all other entry points in the state. There have also been repeated instances of many outsiders especially labourers or other workers entering the state in the recent days from jungles and riverside routes. Such people who make their way into the state are posing serious risks to the people of the state. We demand the state government to immediately look into it, the union added.
