ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Friday has called for complete lockdown in the state at least for two weeks and to re-test all returnees from outside for the safety of the state.
In a press conference, President, AAPSU, Hawa Bagang attributing that COVID-19 cases increased in the state due to returnees asked the state government to ensure re-test of all returnees to contain the spread of COVID – 19.
Meje Taku, VP, AAPSU while supporting online classes however suggested that government should also look if schools in remote districts would be able to avail the benefits where there is no internet connectivity.
He however categorically suggested not to re-open schools, colleges, universities, shopping malls, and other big institutions during the pandemic.
Taku also urged the state government to initiate action against those sneaking into the state violating the Standard Operation Procedure (SOPs).
Meanwhile, AAPSU has also demanded a speedy and fair investigation into the Longding firing incident and to release ex-gratia with job benefits to the deceased family.
Declaration of Diyun as a containment zone under Changlang district, financial assistance to stranded students in other states, to set up cold storage in each district which will benefit farmers to preserve their product are their core demands.
