NAMSAI, Jun 24: As a part of the Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign 2019, the Department of Forest & Environment, Namsai Division in collaboration with Mounfra Self Help Group on Friday conducted a plantation drive wherein at least 7000 saplings were planted.
Speaking on the occasion, District Forest Officer (DFO), Namsai T Jamoh informed that the campaign is part of the Van Mahotsav celebration which pursues a target of planting one crore saplings within the next five years. The Namsai Forest Division officers along with other staff in collaboration with the SHG planted trees at Noh-Dihing bridge and six other forest ranges namely Namsai, Manabhum, Tengapani, Chongkham, Medo and Wakro.
“Although we targeted planting of 4000 saplings, with support from various NGOs and officials of the department we have planted at least 7000 saplings in different locations,” DFO informed, also disclosing that keeping in view of the increasing soil erosion in Noa-Dihing river, the department along with the NGOs is planning to plant at least one lakh trees in the coming days and 1500 of it have been planted on the day itself.  
Member, Mounfra SHG BD Mala Longkan informed that their members are voluntarily engaged in the noble mission of planting trees and over the years it has emerged as an annual involvement.
