PASIGHAT, Feb 22: Organized by the All East Siang Gaon Bura/Buris Welfare Association (AESGBWA), the 6th General Conference of East Siang Gaon Burahs (GBs) held on February 18 & 19 last at Ledum Dere under Ruksin subdivision, concluded on a positive note. 
Addressing the inaugural, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu stated that Gaon Burahs are the village-level functionaries of the district administration. They are appointed as the most knowledgeable persons having good ties with everyone in the village to oversee matters relating to law and order issues at village level in general. They must deliver prompt justice; he said quoting that ‘justice delayed is justice denied’. If justice is not served timely, it is as if no justice is served, said the DC. 
Responding to the two point memorandum submitted by the association for construction of Gaon Burah Bhawan at Pasighat and grant of retirement of aged poor performing GBs and tocovert their honorarium to Old Age Pension system, the DC assured to put forth the demands/grievances to the appropriate authority for further necessary action. Before concluding his deliberation, Taggu reiterated to sensitize the people about various state and central sponsored welfare schemes and projects being implemented in the district.     
The President and General Secretary of AESGBBWA, PelsamTayeng and Tayam Dupak elaborated the role of GBs, while the presidents and secretaries of all seven blocks raised various issues of their respective blocks and held threadbare discussion on various issues like identification of drugs users and peddlers, awareness on protection of wildlife, surrender of air-guns,implementation of government schemes etc
