NAHARLAGUN, Jun 22: Continuing with their efforts to check overpricing of commodities during the current Covid-19 crisis, a team from the Papum Pare District Legal Metrology Department led by Inspector Debia Tana conducted surprise inspection at the trading premises of Doimukh Market, Rono Hills, NEEPCO tri-junction and Kolla Camp of Doimukh area.
Five shopkeepers were booked for selling packaged commodities beyond MRPs or rates fixed by the government. During inspection, the team found two wine shops selling IMFL including breezers in excess of the government-fixed rates and the offenders were booked for violation of the provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 with seizure of 7 crates of IMLF from their possession. The team also booked 4 more traders for selling milk products, aerated cold drinks etc. at exorbitant prices and seized the sample products.
The inspection team was accompanied by the members of Consumer Rights Organization (CRO), an active voluntary consumer rights organization and assisted by the police personnel of Doimukh Police Station. LM & CA PR
