ITANAGAR, Jul 11: Six NSCN-IM cadres were killed in an encounter jointly executed by the 6 Assam Rifles of Indian Army and Arunachal Pradesh Police during the early morning hours on Saturday in Longding district.
The insurgents killed were all males, aged 25-40 years and 4 AK-47 rifles, 2 MQ-81, 9 magazines, 1 HE grenade, 2 IEDs (4 kg tiffin-box and 1kg pipe-style) and electric wire measuring 1000 mts were seized. 
Acting on a specific and verified intelligence input received on July 10 that a team of NSCN-IM cadres led by SS Capt. Somnyam Tangkhul and 5 others are camping in the general area of Nginu in Wakka Circle with the intention of abducting the Market President and Secretary, Longding, a blueprint of the joint operation was chalked out under the leadership of CO 6 AR and SP Longding.
Early Saturday morning at around 4:30 am, the 6 AR team stepped into the jungles between Nginu and Ngissa and was later joined by the remaining contingent. There was a stiff resistance by the insurgents who fired nearly 400 rounds and exchange of firing went for nearly 2 hours. CO 6 AR and SP Longding were also present on the spot and an FIR 36/2020 u/s 307/ 34 IPC, 27 Arms Act, 6A(2) Explosives Act has been registered and further investigation is on.
As per inputs, the team was sent by Rockwan alias Absolom Thankgul who was also reported to be involved in the murder of MLA Tirong Aboh on May 21, 2019. PRO APP
