Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
NAHARLAGUN, Apr 7:
India ASEAN Friendship Car Rally Association (IFCRA) President Pem Sonam from Arunachal Pradesh and its Consultant M Chandrakeshor Singh today meet Minister Counsellor (Commercial) of Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi Khun Tharadol Thongruang, in connection with the forthcoming India Asian Friendship Car Rally- 2018 initiated by Government of India and Government of Arunachal Pradesh covering 5 ASEAN countries.
Sonam in a release today said that the meeting was a successful one and discussion was a fruitful. The rally is scheduled to be flagged off from Tawang on May 27 next.
There will be participants joining from Myanmar, Thailand and Laos with their own vehicles. Target number of participants is 45 + with 15 + cars to drive 9000 kms in India, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia within 30 days.
He went on to add that to promote trade & tourism and to promote people to people contact by rediscovering the age old historical linkage and cultural ties with the ASEAN countries, the International Friendship Car Rally Association, IFCRA is happy to make an official announcement of the flag off and flag down dates of the INDIA ASEAN FRIENDSHIP CAR RALLY 2018 which will cover Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
The event is supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Gòvt of India to foster India ASEAN Friendship relation in the context of India's Act East Policy.
The rally is a self drive expedition event with the Indian made SUVs to be sponsored by the Tata Motors Ltd., with private and official participants from India is scheduled to flag off on May 27 from Tawang, India and Flag down on June 20 at Imphal with the support and suggestions of the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi. The flag down and the closing ceremony will be at Imphal.
The route was taken by the Japanese army and later by the Indian National Army led by Netaji for movement of men and ration to reach Imphal in Manipur and Kohima in Nagaland in India from Singapore during WW-II.
Cultural programmes besides business meet with networking dinner is on the charts at Yangon, Vientiane, Hanoi and Thailand in presence of local authorities.
He said that car rally will highlight the age old trade route connecting India. Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia & Vietnam which in the current scenario have acquired great significance in context of overland movement of people and goods between India and ASEAN nations also highlights the importance of India's Act East Policy.
It is mentionable that IFCRA has already successfully organised two friendship car rallies in the past in the year 2016 & 2017.
