KAYING, Mar 25: A  major fire broke out at Kaying village in the vicinity of Kaying town this morning wherein 54 houses were gutted and 22 houses were partially damaged. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.  However, there is  no report of  loss of life except for a woman receiving minor injury. 
The DC, Siang  has constituted a committee headed by EAC Kaying to assess the losses and submit report within 48 hours.
As per laid down norms Rs.1.62 lakhs has been sanctioned by the Deputy Commissioner, Siang as immediate relief.
The office of the Union Minister of State, Sports & Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has communicated to provide relief immediately. MLA Ninong Ering has donated Rs. 1 lakh in cash and Rs. 10 lakh worth of CGI sheets from his MLALAD fund.
Tapir Gao, MP( Arunachal East ) has conveyed over phone to DC, Siang that he would be providing Rs. 15 lakhs for the Kaying fire victims. 
Meanwhile the first day of national lockdown in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19 passed off adhering to the laid down norms. Many villages in the district performed “Motor” Adi  traditional method of warding off viruses and evil spirits by constructing  gates at the entrance of villages . Boleng, Pangin and Rumgong towns had a silent and deserted look except for a few frontline workers and people involved in essential services. DIPRO
