ITANAGAR, Jun 25: A total of 4744 Dwelling Units(DU) have been sanctioned in the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in last four years and out of that 920 has been completed, said Secretary UD, Housing and Town Planning SK Jain while addressing the press briefing on 4th anniversary of the launching of PMAY scheme.
PMAY(Urban) mission was launched by the Prime Minister on 25th June 2015 to provide central assistance of Rs 1,50,000 to all the eligible families to build affordable house, in formed the Secretary. He also added that Arunachal has 33 notified urban centres and the demand for survey of 29 towns has been already conducted remaining towns like Raga, Kimin, Doimukh and Pangin are under progress which is likely to be completed by 30th August 2019.
While delving on details of the project, Secretary further stated ‘out of 4744 Dwelling Units,3945 DUs are grounded, 1755 DUs are at foundation level, 890 are at Lintel Level,779 are at Roof Level and 920 have been completed and delivered to the beneficiaries.'
When asked about availing the schemes, Secretary said anyone can avail the scheme who don’t have pucca (RCC) house or roof. One should submit APST certificate and Aadhaar card or any other related documents to concern official of the department and we assure that they will get the benefits in a short time, he asserted. While briefing on Smart City and AMRUT Projects, Secretary informed that installation of surveillance system in both smart cities of Itanagar and Pasighat will be starting soon as the tender process is over. Besides that sewage system under AMRUT is also going on in the capital region.
However, when contacted beneficiaries have a different story, Gichik Yajo from Ward No. 13 said, her house is already completed on January last but she didn’t receive single instalment till date. Another beneficiary Rigyo Yapa received only Rs 60,000 as the first Installment after that its been three months she didn’t receive the balance Installment amount under the project.
‘Every beneficiary will get their Installment, as it is the procedure of the central schemes to confer the amount directly to their account in three instalments after proper assessment', clarified Municipal Engineer Er Gomo Kamdak.
Among others, Sukhwinder Singh Director Town Planning,Er Taring Darang Chief Engineer UD & Housing, Er Marconi Potom Mission Director PMAY and other officials also attended the briefing.
Earlier, the team of officials from the UD, Housing and Town Planning along with the beneficiaries of PMAY led by the secretary, SK Jain attended the Video conference with Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development (Independent ) Hardeep Singh Puri.
