ITANAGAR, Sep 21: The national Khelo India Selection Committee has finally picked up 4 Weightlifters from Arunachal Pradesh to be given incentives out of 7 campers who underwent coaching from July 25 to August 25 at Sports Authority of India WTC, Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The choice of the four weightlifters was made on the basis of the better performances given by them during selection trial conducted at Aurangabad coaching camp.
They will now be placed at different weightlifting training institutions in the country for best coaching and education. The names of the selected athletes are: Sankhar Lapung (55 Kg); Charu Pesi (55 Kg); Markio Tario (61 kg); and Posen Kongkang (55 kg women).
National Level Khelo India has also started giving incentives of Rs 10,000 each to the selected athletes since two months for getting basic needs of the lifters. Besides weightlifting, Khelo India Selection Committee has also selected state’s ace shuttler Laa Talar for Badminton discipline .
