KAYING, May 11:At least 28 houses and properties worth in lakh were gutted down in a major fire mishap in Old Kerang village few kilometers away from Kamba town under Kaying Circle, Siang District today.

However no casualty was reported, but including 28 houses, few domesticated animals were also reportedly charred to death in the fire. The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

According to sources, the fire razed down mostly thatched structures, but the dwellers  with the support of residents of adjoining villages after a long struggle somehow managed to stop the blaze from spreading further.
