TEZU, Oct 2: Under government of Arunachal Pradesh special grants of remission, 2 convicted inmates Rajen Gowana and Chau Dhonanseng Nokkew were released before their actual sentence period from the District Jail Tezu on the occasions of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here today.
According to District Jail reports, Nokkew was convicted under Namsai PS Case No. 52/2019 under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) part II IPC for five years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 5000. However, Gowala was convicted under Changlang PS case No. 20/2014 under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) part II IPC for six years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of 2000 by the Session Court Eastern Zone”.
Meanwhile, Special remission will not be given to prisoners who have been convicted for an offence for which the sentence is sentence of death or where death sentence has been commuted to life imprisonment; Cases of convicts involved in serious and heinous crimes like Dowry death, Rape, Human Trafficking and those convicted under POTA, TADA, POCSO Act, Money Laundering, NDPS, Prevention of Corruption Act and etc, disclosed Radhe Olley, DSP District Jail Tezu.
