Itanagar, Dec 12: Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship organized a Briefing-Cum-Send-Off-Cum-Orientation Programme here at Udyog Sadan for the 180 youths who have been selected to undergo Skill Development Training in Retail, IT-ITes and Electronics sectors.
These students will be trained by Assam Professional Academy (APA), Guwahati which is an empanelled Training Provider under the Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM) component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) being implemented by the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoAP. After completion of training, they will be given placement opportunities, which is the ultimate objective of the programme.
Director, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Subu Tabin along with Deputy Director P.K Das and Assistant Director J. Riba briefed the youths about the training programme, train journey, essentials to acclimatize in new place, food habits, security, dedication, etc. Training fees, to and fro travelling, boarding & lodging expenses etc. are borne by the government under PMKVY.
Assam Professional Academy will impart both theory and practical domain-specific training including soft skills like Spoken English, Communication Skills, Digital Literacy etc. At the end of the training, the candidates will undergo a third-party assessment to be conducted by an empanelled organization and trade certificate will be provided to the successful ones by the concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC) & National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the target is to attain a minimum of 70% placement. State government has signed a number of MoUs with Training Providers to establish 41 Training Centres within the state and 9 outside under PMVKY and CMYKY for Short Term & High-end Skill Development Training respectively to impart employable skills in various sectors. Director informed that 5095 candidates have been trained in 15 various sectors under PMVKY and 1159 got job offers/placements and are currently working at various parts of the country including that as cabin crew and airline ground staff. He also informed that under CMYKY which is a State Flagship Program to provide high-end skill development training to the state’s youths, 244 candidates are undergoing such training at Guwahati and 38 are pursuing employable degree courses at Team Lease Skills University, Vadodara in Gujarat.
The selection of candidates are done every year through Skill Development Sensitization, Motivation and Trainee Selection Rallies held in all district headquarters. DSDE PR
