ITANAGAR, Apr 22: A total of 18 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed to ensure free and fair re-polling in Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi district, informed Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Nodal Officer (Election) Sunil Garg on Monday.
The order came after the poll panel announced re-polling in 18 polling stations under the two districts on April 27.
“These 18 companies of the forces will assist concerned police forces in the two districts to thwart any law and order problem. Two platoons will be deployed in each polling booth and others for night patrolling, Nakabandi, foot march and for the security of strong rooms,” Garg added.
In addition Garg informed that personal security will be also provided to magistrates, RO, DEO and other officers on duty which will be supervised by concerned Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) of concerned districts.
“We have also identified vulnerable polling stations, where extra forces will be deployed to protect voters and CCTV cameras to monitor campus perimeter 24x7,” he informed.
Furthermore to supervise the overall security system, two DIGs, one in each district and two additional SPs will be sent to assist concerned SP in maintaining law & order.
IGP further appealed the people of both the districts to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise and cooperate with officials on duty to ensure peaceful completion of the election process.
