ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Surprise inspections at capital’s VIP Road, Kime Pakka, Bank Tinali and C-Sector area by the Mobile Inspection Team (MIT) of the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs resulted in booking of 15 traders for violation of various provisions of the Legal Metrology Act/Rules.
Of the total cases that were registered, 9 traders mostly of car décor shops have been booked for violation of Packaged Commodities Rules, 2011 for selling commodities including imported items in packaged form without mandatory information like MRP, date of manufacturing and other statutory declarations. Some of the traders were found selling commodities with smudged MRP and five were booked for using unverified weights and measures in their day to day commercial transactions. The team also conducted similar inspections at petrol pumps located in capital.
