BOMDILA, Jan 18: At least 14 persons were booked today for illegally deforesting and occupying 62 acres of notified area land of Pedung village (New Bomdila) by Town Magistrate Kesang Wangda.
Based on a complaint regarding illegal deforestation and occupation of the notified area, Town Magistrate along with OC Bomdila, Range Forest Officer, DLR&SO, Village Head, villagers and IRBN & police personnel succeeded in confiscating the jungle cutting and fencing materials and booked the offenders on the spot.
Investigations are currently on for unearthing further details and identifying the mastermind who emboldened these people to occupy the area. A few dozen more are expected to be booked shortly. DIPRO
