PASIGHAT, Nov 30: Ten houses were gutted and eight families rendered homeless in a fire that broke out at Mongku Village under Pasighat Sadar Circle on Thursday. It was reported that household properties worth lakhs of rupees, including local ornaments, perished in the fire. However, there were no reports of any casualty.
The affected families at present have been shifted to a temporary shelter in the local Primary School provided by the district administration.
On being informed, Local MLA Kaling Moyong along with DC Tamiyo Tatak and SP Prashant Gautam immediately rushed to the spot, and distributed Rs.3,800 each to the affected families as immediate relief with an assurance to provide more support.
Moyong asked the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to submit the assessment report to the government at the earliest so that more assistance could be provided to the homeless to rebuild their lives. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The DC has urged people to remain alert to avert any such unfortunate incidents by following all possible safety and preventive measures, particularly at this vulnerable time of dry winter period and windy conditions in the area.
