DCM reviews hydropower projects to strengthen state energy roadmap
NAHARLAGUN, Dec 3:In a significant development, the Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) today joined the bye-election process in the state to be held on December 12 and announced to field a candidate for the Likabali by-poll.
Interestingly, Gumke Riba a senior BJP member who was vying for the BJP ticket after being denied the same has been announced as the PPA candidate.
The PPA is unable to field a candidate for 12-Pakke Kessang but in case of 28-Likabali wherein three probable candidates were in the fray for the BJP ticket, the PPA found its chance.
‘On finding that the ticket has been issued to a newly joined BJP member, it was our prerogative to put a candidate in Likabali and we have chosen one of the senior leaders Gumke Riba of Likabali area as PPA candidate and assured him full support of the party,’ said PPA President Kahfa Bengia.
Riba joined the PPA along with his supporters today and he will be filling his nomination on Monday as PPA candidate.
I joined BJP in 2013 and fought the last 2014 assembly election on BJP ticket. I have dedicated my life sincerely for the BJP and given my full time for expansion in grassroots area of my assembly constituency but the leaders of the state did not honour my sincerity, devotion and dedication in the Party and the ticket was issued to one who joined BJP a month back,’ Gumke Riba said.
Saying that the BJP’s decision has hurt him a lot and compelled him to take the support of another Party, he added ‘I would have surrendered had the ticket been given to another senior leaderTapak Nguso, but bypassing the party cadre is total injustice.’
