ITANAGAR, Mar 6: While attending a day long workshop on Swachh Sarvekshan on Tuesday, Inspector General, ITBP, North East Frontier MS Rawat emphasized the need to create awareness about cleanliness among the masses.
Complimenting the Prime Minister for initiating the campaign, he said though cleanliness has been taught to everyone from childhood, it has failed to get replicated at community level because of various reasons and called for change of mindset among all stakeholders.
He however lauded the Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) for bringing about substantial change by way of infrastructure development and behavioural change among the public and stressed on the need to address various constraints especially financial support from the government.
In his speech the Dy. Chief Councillor, Tarh Nachung spoke about how the council has undertaken awareness campaign, social service and infrastructural development in Itanagar Municipal Council area.
Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Dr HR Keshavamurthy in his welcome address appealed to all state agencies and ITBP to join hands with the Directorate of Field Publicity in creating awareness about the cleanliness drive. He also emphasized the need to educate the public about participating in Swachh Sarvekshan through various social media platforms and Swachh App which can be downloaded.
