ITANAGAR, Apr 19: Bamang Felix, the former government spokesperson, today termed the allegations of resorting to booth capturing, hooliganism, violence, etc at various polling stations under Nyapin constituency levelled against him by the Congress as completely baseless without an iota of truth.
Felix who was responding to allegations made by APCC chief Takam Sanjoy alleged that it was nothing but the result of the party’s frustration over their impending defeat in the general elections 2019.
He accused that the  APCC chief and Congress party is rattled over the fear of facing defeat in the general elections and now spreading ‘a web of lies’ under depression.
Addressing a press conference here at Press Club, he criticized the  Congress of stooping to the level of questioning the credibility of the BJP party, saying that all the illegal activities to disturb the peaceful polling was done by Congress and not him. Strongly refuting the allegations, Felix clarified that how could he do such things when several attempts were made to manhandle him by Congress workers during election campaigning.
“Workers carrying daos, hammers, etc wearing tracksuits with Congress logos stopped and pulled me out of my vehicle and tried to manhandle me while on my way from Sangram to Nyapin. Thanks to my PSO who intervened timely and safely evacuated me from the spot,” Felix informed. The SDO, Sangram was badly mistreated and forcefully made to write a letter under threat to suggest re-polling in few polling stations and a copy of the letter is now widely circulating in social networking sites, he mentioned.
“The people of my area are witness to who resorted to ‘Gunda Gardi’,” Felix said adding that there is no use of election if there is breakdown in law and order situation and people are not allowed to cast votes. Recalling various unconfirmed incidents, Felix alleged that the quarter of OC, Sangram was burnt down over unknown reasons and SDPO & Circle Officer were also allegedly heckled and their vehicles damaged by Congress workers. He also cited an incident of 23 Chekhi polling station where a bjp worker was severely inflicted with life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a Congress worker with machete  and is now undergoing treatment at NEIGRIMS.
Referring to protests staged by Congress workers demanding re-polling in various places, Felix claimed that all EVMs were safely evacuated and when polling had passed off peacefully the question of re-poll doesn’t arise. Stating that the power to re-conduct elections rests with  the Election Commission of India, he suggested that an inquiry be launched to unearth unlawful incidents that occurred under his constituency.
“Those who have politicophobia or  uncomfortable with losing elections should not contest elections,” asserted Felix while welcoming any type of inquiry.
