TALIHA, Nov 13: 

 

Chief Minister today said that the state which was under Congress rule for long had suffered for want of attention from the Centre but all that has changed now with the new dispensation.

 

‘But now with the able leadership in New Delhi, the state is witnessing no dearth of support from the Centre,’ Khandu said the PM is likely to visit Arunachal soon and will announce some big projects for the state. 

 

He said this during his maiden visit to Taliha constituency today accompanied by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and State BJP President Tapir Gao.

 

Reiterating that the state government will soon handover investigation of PDS case to the CBI, Khandu said the Chief Secretary has been instructed to study the matter and to prepare all paper works related to PDS misappropriation for it to be recommended to the CBI to investigate the case. 

‘When Congress was in power, it never bothered to investigate the people behind such scam, and it’s only after BJP coming into power, the state government is serious to unearth the people behind,’ the CM said.

 

Speaking on achievements of his government, Khandu said the government has announced creation of Kamle district that was pending since Union Territory days. He said the foundation stone for the district will be laid in December. He also said the state government was able to make Lower Siang functional that had remained non-functional since its creation for many years. 

 

Asserting that Taliha constituency receives neither benefit from BADP nor from Urban Development schemes, the CM promised to give special attention to the constituency and said that in the current financial year 2017-18, the area will have adequate schemes of not less than Rs 50 crores. 

 

Earlier, the Union Minister inaugurated the RCC girls hostel of the govt higher secondary school, Kodak on way to Taliha. On reaching Taliha, the Chief Minister inaugurated the RCC school building of the government higher secondary school, Taliha.

 

 

Earlier, Rijiju in his speech assured to take up the matter for a JNV school for Upper Subansiri district and promised that the school will be established soon. He also announced to provide BSNL 3G Internet connectivity for Taliha constituency including road communication up to Taksing by December 2018. 

 

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in his speech underlined the need for good road connectivity. He appealed the people to cooperate with the development efforts and not to cause hindrance to works by demanding huge compensation. He said the area has huge scope in horticulture and once the road connectivity is improved, the region can reap huge benefits. 

 

State BJP President, Horticulture Parliamentary Secretary Punji Mara, former Minister Nyato Rigia also spoke on the occasion. 

 

Raga MLA Tamar Murtem and Dumporijo MLA Pakgna Bage also attended the meeting.
