PASIGHAT, Jul 16:  In a crucial meeting for improvement of overall power scenario of the district and to find out a solution to stop the proposed East Siang district bandh called by Pasighat People’s Welfare Committee PPWC) on 17th July next against repeated power failure in the region,  the power department led by SE, EE (Electrical), EE (T & P) assured to provide uninterrupted power supply by correcting fault within 24 hours.

The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of DC Pasighat, Tamiyo Tatak on Saturday being attended by executive members of PPWC, Power Dept and admin officers like ADC (HQ) and EAC (Judl). During the very beginning of the meeting, PPWC placed a four point demand before the power department which included, assurance to restore power failure within 24 hours with reference to minute of meeting of 31st July 2016, formation of coordination committee and to arrange a bi-monthly meeting on power, enhancement of power supply from present 3 MW to 5 MW from Assam and to ensure any fault between Dura Sub-Station to Pasighat shall be responsible on the power department.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP, Ninong Ering has also come down heavily upon power department’s inability to maintain 132 kv line which was commissioned recently. While speaking to this reporter, Ering said that the very concept and purpose of 132 kv line was to avoid usual power disruption out of tree/bamboo falling over the wires of 33 kv old line. The department authorities at both Pasighat and Itanagar need to ensure regular power supply and action must be taken on negligent officials and staffers, added Ering taking serious note of the repeated power failures.
