ITANAGAR, Nov 12: An OBT type private residence of one Rumik Tare was completely gutted in a devastating fire this evening at Itanagar near the circuit house. No human casualty has been reported but properties worth lakhs has been lost in the inferno including prized local ornaments.

The occupants of the house were not present during the mishap; however onlookers informed the fire service as soon as they saw fire and smoke emanating from the house.

‘We received information a bit late but a team rushed to the spot with fire tender. However, due to absence of proper approach road the team couldn’t reach the exact location,’ informed Fire Officer, Fire Station Itanagar, Giogi Lilong.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but as of now we suspect it to be due to short circuit, he added.
