Congress looted country since Independence: Rijiju

ITANAGAR, Nov 8:Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today alleged that the party is "synonymous with corruption" and has "looted" the country since Independence without thinking for the people.

Addressing a programme at Ganga Market here to mark the first anniversary of demonetisation policy of the Modi government, the Minister of State for Home said, "The tradition of the Congress since 1947 was to win election through money power and after getting elected the leaders use to loot public money." 

Rijiju said "The demonetisation policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put a halt in corruption and the Congress leaders are spending sleepless nights since November 8 last year for the black money they posses." 

He said, the demonetisation policy of the NDA would be remembered in the history of Indian economy and the country has moved on to a much cleaner, transparent and honest financial system.

Criticising the Congress for observing the day as ‘Black Day’, Rijiju said that the party was nervous post demonetisation and making dramas out of no issues.

"The NDA government will spare nobody engaged in corruption and soon there will be lot of action against them," the minister said.

Rijiju said, during the Congress regime in the country, there was "no coordination" between the government and the people. But after NDA came to power, Modi reduced the gap to a large extent.

Referring to Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju claimed that whatever works could not be done in the last 71 years in the state, the BJP government would do.

"As a representative from Arunachal, I am in Delhi to raise your problems. No need to take tension till I am there and all your problems will be resolved," he emphatically said and assured that Tali in Kurung Kumey district of the state would be connected by road within 2019.

State BJP President Tapir Gao speaking on the occasion said that Modi took the decision of demonetisation in the interest of the country and the people.

"Congress is observing the day as Black Day because most of the black money in the country are in the possession of Congress leaders," he alleged adding, demonetisation had improved the economy of the country to a large extent

Biggest scam since Independence: Jayakumar

ITANAGAR, Nov 8:National Secretary, All India Congress Committee (AICC), cum in-charge Arunachal, Dr. J Jayakumar on Wednesday termed the post-demonetisation period as the ‘toughest’ phase in the lives of every Indian citizen and called the move of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led BJP government as one of the biggest scams committed since independence. 

“Hundreds of poor people died while standing in queues in Banks and ATMs, lakhs of workers lost their jobs, thousands of small scale and medium scale industries shut down. However none of the aims of demonetisation were achieved and the nation experienced huge pain and economic shutdown during the period,” he said. 

He was addressing hundreds of Congress party workers on “Black Day” at Tennis court, IG Park, Itanagar, organized by the APCC to observe post-demonetisation impact on society and the nation. 

 On the day, the APCC held a massive rally in the afternoon from Akashdeep to Tennis Court and later in the evening also organized a candle light march to extend solidarity with the lives lost during this period, which was participated by seniors party members including MP, Ninnong Ering, Former APCC president, Padi Richo, Jarjum Ete and incumbent President Takam Sanjoy. 

Jayakumar also denounced Modi’s claims that, it (demonetisation) had put a stop on illegal funding to terrorists and reduced terrorism in the county, unearthed black money deposited abroad etc. 

“There is spurt in terrorism activities in the country, fake currency is circulating more than before. Our soldiers are dying in the border, poor people are suffering, thousands of small industrial units closed resulting in economic slowdown after the November 8 announcement of demonetisation,” he further alleged. 

Launching a scathing attack, APCC President, Takam Sanjoy said that the NDA government is good at “Boasting” without any visible development activities on the ground. 

“Modi is making a fool of the citizens of the country on the pretext of implementing various schemes and programs for the poor and needy. They are only labelling Congress initiated schemes and programs with new names and taking credit for it,” Sanjoy alleged. 

Recalling the hardship and suffering of the people during the period, MP Ninong Ering accused PM Modi for backstabbing and betraying its fellow countrymen with fake promises. 

Ering alleged that Modi cheated and lied to the people of the country during election campaign that he will deposit Rs 15 Lakh in bank accounts of every Indian.

“Where is the money”? Ninnong questioned while stating the NDA government has nothing to offer to the people of this country, but fake promises. 

Termign the NDA government’s promise to curb corruption a “complete flop”, he said there is a huge gap between the prime minister's rhetoric and the reality on ground.

“Social harmony in our country is completely disrupted, internal security is at stake,  be the North-east, or naxal affected areas, small businesses are suffering, farmers dying in rural areas ,” said former APCC President, Padi Richo.

“What more to expect from such a draconian government,” Richo alleged adding that the BJP government is highly embarrassed with the failure of demonetisation.

Recalling the incidents of deaths reported during post demonetisation, Jarjum Ete in her address said that PM Modi should tender apology for the blunder and compensate the deceased.

 “Demonetisation as a means of tackling the black economy was destined to fail,” Ete added alleging that  it was carried out without preparation and proper assessment.
