Home Minister calls for discipline in police

NAHARLAGUN, Nov 8:The Arunachal Pradesh State Police Department today celebrated its 45th Raising Day at PTC Banderdewa in a colourful and befitting manner.

Home Minister Kumar Waii who attended as chief guest spoke about his initiatives, plan and policy for the upgradation and improvement of the police department in the state including measures to be taken up for the welfare of its employees.

Addressing a huge gathering of police personnel which included the Parliamentary Secretary Tax and Excise and the Director General of Police, the Minister appealed the department officials to be first disciplined themselves and deliver better services to the public.

Waii further assured to install CCTV surveillance to reduce crime rate, reform the traffic condition of the twin capital and winter jackets for police personnel.

Earlier DGP Sandeep Goel briefly traced the historical growth and stages of the police department in the state right from its old headquarters Shillong and its establishment at Naharlagun, beginning of recruitment of first batch police in 1972.     

Other highlights of the programme included laying of wreath at martyrs memorial and distribution of awards and trophies.
